Reviews about Chris' No Frills

No Frills is as advertised, nothing frilly just the basics. The produce they stock is consistently the best available for chain markets so whoever is in charge of that is doing a great job. Produce prices are usually better than most anywhere else, including Costco. I usually find that if they don't have a certain fruit or veg any given week, you won't find it of a quality worth taking home at a different store. They also carry a few exotics that are good quality at decent prices. Not a huge selection of fresh meat, and prices are average. The bulk buys they do on pork and chicken can get you some good bargains occasionally. Beef is rarely on serious sale (here or anywhere really). Dairy is well priced, and you can often find some killer sales on things like yogurt and cottage cheese. 'Processed' meat, bacon, and prepared items like fresh pasta, etc are average to low-average prices and again, you can sometimes get in on good sales. The dry and canned goods are slightly better priced than Superstore in general, but sometimes the price difference for the same item is significant. This is also true when compared with other large markets. However, you will run across things that are silly expensive for no reason. So it's good to know what reasonable prices are for the items you normally buy. They don't have an in-store bakery so the bread is from 3rd party vendors. They don't carry a lot in terms of volume but you will usually be able to find what you need. There's lots of parking, the staff is friendly, and the store is clean. Shelves are well stocked. You do pack your own groceries, so make sure you BYOB if you don't like paying for the smaller yellow plastic bags. Overall, I shop here about 3 times per month because it is a bit out of the way for me since I changed jobs. That said, I am happy to do my big grocery shopping here because I'm confident in the prices and quality. I do recommend NF to my friends - the ones that don't already shop there.
